Dying for Haiti

One task requested for the education and enjoyment of the Haitian children we will visit, was for us to teach them to tie dye shirts. Lynn purchased shirts and various colors of dye. Gathering on Sunday, February 24, we learned to make our own personal tie dyed shirt. We can now go forth and teach others to tie dye their very own shirts. We will take white cotton shirts in various sizes with the fish logo (Ichthys) for the children. The logo preprinted on the shirts is the logo of the youth group. It represents the initial letters of five Greek words forming the word for fish (Ichthys), which words briefly but clearly described the character of Christ and the claim to worship of believers: Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter, meaning, Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour. Watch for future posts with pictures of the Haitian Youth Mission team in their custom tie dyed shirts.

Preparation

Sunday, February 17th a fundraiser to support team members was enjoyed at the toboggan runs in the Metropark in Strongsville, OH. More than 200 people participated in sledding, food and entertainment. The weather, though threatening was perfect during the 3 hour window needed to enjoy the outdoor fun. Nearly $3000.00 was raised to subsidise travel, humanitarian supplies, and project supplies to be taken to Haiti. Thanks to all who participated!
