The early service was traditional with a communion liturgical service. The Hearts for Haiti Group was introduced by Lynn Scheerhorn, our trip co-ordinator. Gary Dittmar, the only male adult joining our group presented a powerful message interpreted in Creole by the Pastor of this Lutheran Church. We made a trip to the beach mid day and all children, young and old, Hatian and American had a wonderful time splashing in fairly large waves. We completed the day with a worship service with loud, joyous singing and high energy praise. Adults and children all joined in with such delight and exuberance it was imposible to stand still. It seems this is the usual at this Sunday evening service. We shared our highs and lows of the day. Almost everyone agreed that a low is that we cannot communicate as we would like. The high's ranged from the trip to the beach to the enthusiam in the praise service. We all agree the Hatian spirit is kind, loving and welcoming. We feel very grateful to be here and very appreciated.
Planting trees and building chicken coups is on the agenda for tomorrow!
